Deana A. Rohlinger
Areas of Expertise & Civic Involvements
Rohlinger’s research and teaching focus on the role of mass media and social movements in democratic politics. Current research projects examine the effects of Internet Communication Technology on political engagement and participation in progressive and conservative movements; the ways in which movements use new and old media to shape political debates; and the role of emotions and identity in the battle over Terri Schiavo. Recently, Rohlinger did a “teach-in” for Occupy Tallahassee and spoke to undergraduates and community members associated with the Leadership and Civic Engagement Institute.
