Lyra de Castro
As an organizer, Lyra de Castro works to strengthen and build the Greater Boston Chapter of the Scholars Strategy Network to improve public policy in Massachusetts. She is spearheading a project to measure the power of researchers in public debates in order to identify ways to increase scholars’ effectiveness and clout. She also assists the Executive Director in developing and maintaining relationships with stakeholders and supporters.
Lyra graduated cum laude from Simmons College with a BA in Sociology as part of the International Sociology Honors Society. She serves on the Diversity and Inclusion Committee of the Simmons College Alumni Association. She has worked for many nonprofit organizations that focus on serving marginalized communities including Roca Inc., the Asian Taskforce against Domestic Violence, and Nuestra Comunidad Community Development Corporation. In her spare time, she volunteers as an organizer and activist on issues including affordable housing, criminal justice, and educational equity.
