Los Angeles Unified
Addressing issues distinct to the Los Angeles area as well as concerns shared across SSN networks, the Los Angeles Unified Network draws on faculty, post-doctoral fellows and advanced graduate students from the metropolitan region, at institutions including USC, UCLA, Pomona, Occidental College, Loyola, and UC-Irvine. The LAU Branch will have as its central issues: Labor and Immigration (American Democracy), Homelessness and Urban Poverty (Economic Security, Society and Social Issues), Civic Engagement and Diversity (American Democracy, Society and Social Issues, American Education). In the coming year (2015), we plan to host at least two events. Each will feature an invited guest and dinner with the branch members. Our goal will be to bring scholarship and research in and about the LA metropolitan area to the fore.
