Jones is recognized for his expertise on inequality, the impact of unequal neighborhoods on health and on the implications of gentrification on community race relations. While he is trained as a social demographer, his research examines various intersections in the areas of race/ethnicity, socioeconomic status and health. As an urban sociologist, he is particularly concerned with how socio-environmental processes affect the health and well-being of children and adults. Dr. Jones is a board member of the Capital City Area Health Education Center and the Society for the Study of Social Problems. He has also served on Bowling Green State University's Board of Trustees and the American Sociological Association's Advisory Board.
