Franklin specializes in the institutions of American politics. He teaches courses on the American Presidency, American National Government and Georgia State politics. He also has a research interest and has published on film and politics, and the budget process in Congress.
Franklin has been quoted and interviewed numerous times in the local Atlanta and Georgia State press, and has recorded his own interview of military aide to the Eisenhower White House Col. Irv Schoenberg (Ret.) for the Oral History Project at the Eisenhower Presidential Library, which is due to be published by the National Archives and Records Administration. He contributed the article defining “executive privilege” to the Encyclopedia Britannica, and has also penned numerous articles for Britannica’s online blog, which can be accessed below.
