Areas of Expertise & Civic Involvements
Blissett received a Bachelor of Science degree in bioinformatics and computational biology with a minor in computer science from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County. During this time, he worked as a bioinformatics research assistant and also directed an outreach organization that worked with local K-12 schools. After graduating, Blissett worked in Baltimore City to develop and manage service-learning activities as well as a variety of community outreach and student programming initiatives. His research interests revolve around decision-making in education and include foci on representative organizations, public opinion, and governance. Current research projects include examinations of school boards, teachers unions, and school leadership.
Talks and Briefings
Blissett presented research at the 2013 annual meeting of the Comparative and International Education Society. This research explored the relationship between parental education and early home learning environments and the extent to which this relationship varies across countries according to levels of national economic development.
